REPRESENTATION SERVICE
Expert representation from a divorce solicitor
Representation, is the traditional basis of the service provided by solicitors to their clients and hourly billing is the traditional method of charging for it.
The difference is that we are usually happy to act for a fixed fee.
When a solicitor represents a client they are said to act for them. In other words, the solicitor does everything for the client from writing to a bank asking for copies of bank statements to drafting witness statements. The court will write to the solicitor, not the client and will expect the solicitor to comply with the numerous deadlines imposed by the court. Not all of the tasks that a solicitor performs require any degree of legal skill. You may be perfectly capable of performing many of the tasks for yourself and there is no need to pay a solicitor £180 - £300 per hour to do them for you.
However, you may be emotionally unable or unwilling to perform these tasks for yourself. In more complex cases it is sometimes safer to leave the entire conduct of your case to an experienced solicitor.
If you ask us to act for you, you can be sure that we will remove as much of the stress from your shoulders as possible.
The unique service that we offer is that we are usually happy to act for our client for a fixed fee, rather than charging by the hour. A fixed fee is a quote that cannot increase, no matter how long your case takes.
It is possible to agree fixed fees either:
- For the entire case up to and including a final hearing or
- A series of smaller fixed fees, one for each distinct phase in the Ancillary Relief Procedure or the Children Act Procedure
The size of the fixed fee will depend on the complexity of the case. Please contact us for more details.
